Disgaea Introduction: Walking on the Path of Explosions!

Bushiroad Spring Fest 2016

Most of the Bushiroad Spring Fest events have concluded! We’re just left with the special event in Spain this weekend at La Màquina del Temps – Badalona, and the Bushiroad Spring Fest in Singapore on July 9 at C3 CharaExpo 2016! After those have concluded, we’ll be diving straight into the Continental Finals.

The Asia-Oceania Continental Final will be held in Singapore on July 10, the second day of C3 CharaExpo 2016! The North American Continental Final will be held on July 23, at the Pasadena Convention Center. The European Continental Final will be held on the same day, at the BEST WESTERN Savoy Hotel Düsseldorf.

Walking on the Path of Explosions!

Yes, we already had an article about the adorable exploding mascots, but one article is definitely not enough so we’re here with a full deck build for you to try out!

The main premise of this deck is, of course, to throw Prinnies at your opponent and watch them explode. Quite literally, too, as you’ll see in just a bit!

Overlord’s Vassal, Etna

The main premise of this deck is to deal with your opponent’s key centre stage characters with low-cost solutions that don’t rely on power to do so. There is the perfect avenue for this deck to do it – via Overlord’s Vassal, Etna’s effect.

【AUTO】 [(1)] When this card attacks, if a card named “Overlord Zenon Defeated!!” is in your climax area, you may pay the cost. If you do, search your deck for up to one 《Prinny》 character, reveal it to your opponent, put it into your hand, and shuffle your deck.

【ACT】 [(1)] Choose one of your 《Prinny》 characters, and that character gets the following ability until end of turn. “【AUTO】When this card becomes 【REVERSE】, if the level of this card’s battle opponent is lower than or equal to the level of this card, you may 【REVERSE】 that character.”

It gives your Prinnies the ability to put their battle opponent to Reverse if they were put to Reverse in battle, which brings to mind Etna throwing Prinnies at her enemies as explosives… which is exactly the idea that we’re building around!

Cute Little Demon, Etna

Although this card costs 1 stock at level 1, its second ability to search for a or card is very important in this deck, because you either need more ammunition, or key Etna cards which all have the attribute. It also has a good Assist ability that can ramp up in power depending on the number of “Assist” characters you have, but that’s a minor boon compared to its other ability!

Young Etna

This is one of the most important cards in the deck. Why, you ask? Recall that Overlord’s Vassal, Etna’s effect allows you to Reverse same-level or lower levelled characters when your Prinnies are Reversed in battle. Level 1 characters would be out of range for the basic Prinny Squad characters who are level 0, so Young Etna is the perfect solution!

“Beliefs of a Maiden” Fuka

I didn’t include the Climax card for “Beliefs of a Maiden” Fuka’s Climax synergy ability, so the first ability is a bit of a moot point. Its second ability – an alternative Encore ability that lets you put a card from the top of your deck to the clock rather than paying the usual 3 stock – helps you to save on hand size while also maintaining field presence. You can give it +1 level with Young Etna and deal with your opponent’s level 3 characters that enter at level 2 as well!

EXPLOSIVE ENDING, DOOD?!

The main thing here is to remember to pick your battles wisely. Use Overlord’s Vassal, Etna’s ability sparingly, so you can conserve stock for later turns. Try not to be too trigger-happy with the effect, and you should do fine!

Look out for key centre stage characters, and deal with them with your Prinnies! The main drawback of this deck is that you would usually not have much field presence in the early levels because you’re throwing your Prinnies at your opponent, so you might be taking a lot of damage. Another way to look at it is that since your field is open, your opponent will always get +1 soul from direct attacking you, which may help you to cancel damage as well. It’s a double-edged sword in a sense, playing in this fashion, but it would also help you get to level 2 faster and drop “Beliefs of a Maiden” Fuka earlier to stabilize.
And that’s it for today’s article! Go out, throw some Prinnies around, and have fun with the new Disgaea cards!
