Sword Art Online II Vol.2 Extra Booster Introduction Part 1: Yuuki

Welcome back to the Weiss Schwarz Weekly Column!

In this week’s column, we will be looking at cards from the upcoming Extra Booster Pack Sword Art Online Ⅱ Vol.2 to be released on May 27, 2016!

This week’s heroine is the female swordsman, Yuuki. Let’s take a look at some of her cards!

Undefeated Super Swordsman, Yuuki

【AUTO】 When this card becomes 【REVERSE】, if this card’s battle opponent is level 0 or lower, you may put the top card of your opponent’s clock into his or her waiting room. If you do, put that character into your opponent’s clock.

【AUTO】 Encore [Put a character from your hand into your waiting room] (When this card is put into your waiting room from the stage, you may pay the cost. If you do, return this card to its previous stage position as 【REST】)

Undefeated Super Swordsman, Yuuki is a great Level 0 character to start with in the early stage of the game since she can take down any other Level 0 with her ability. Not only that, this ability also prevents your opponent’s Level 0 from using their “Encore” ability, while possessing the “Encore” ability herself to help her stayon the stage.

Memories That Were Fun, Yuuki

【AUTO】 When this card is placed on the stage from your hand, reveal the top card of your deck. If that card is an 《Avatar》 or 《Net》 character, this card gets the following ability until end of turn. “【AUTO】 When this card’s battle opponent becomes 【REVERSE】, you may put that character into your opponent’s clock.”(The revealed card is returned to its original place)

Memories That Were Fun, Yuuki is a good finisher with a “send-to-clock” ability that does not require too much resource. It should have a decent hit rate if you are playing a Neo-Standard Sword Art Online deck, since most cards have the 《Avatar》 or 《Net》 traits/

【AUTO】 When this card attacks, each player puts the top card of his or her deck into the waiting room. If the level of the card put into your waiting room with this effect is higher than the level of the card put into your opponent’s waiting room with this effect, you may put the top card of your deck into your stock. (Climax are regarded as level 0)

This ability is also pretty handy, considering that you can generate more stock a single attack while getting an extra chance to send cards from your opponent’s deck to the waiting room. Bonus points for getting rid of a climax card!

Asuna Joins a Party & Yuuki’s Raised Antenna

This Asuna and Yuuki duo is a very cost efficient pair of cards that functions well for both offense and defense. A 0-cost Level 1 character with 6500 power and 【Encore】 ability is not something you come across all the time, but these cards made it possible. I would definitely play 4 copies of each of them in my deck to maximize the 【Bond】 ability, as this is a self-sustaining 2-card combo.

《Zekken》 Yuuki & 《Mother’s Rosario》

With its climax synergy ability, you can reach up to 7500 power prior to any power boost ability from other characters. Do keep in mind that presence of other characters on your stage is very important to make this ability work well.

The ability to search for up to 2 characters from your deck at a reasonable cost is even easier to use as it does not require you to 【Reverse】 your opponent’s character.
